A metropolitan couple with modern tastes decide they want a handsome, sensual home they can throw Gatsby-esque parties in. They find a wonderful spot in a fabulous neighborhood, with a great layout and strong bones. But the house is…dated. It looks like everyone’s 80’s dream house.

The design challenge here was figuring out how to completely shift the tone without fighting with the base architecture. The solution was to really strip back the color pallette (the couple loves black) and lean into texture, wood, and material. Large, dramatic stone slabs; asymetric, full-wall lit bar; fluted details, walnut beams and lattices. And plenty of dapper Don Draper charisma throughout.
