The term ‘empty nest’ hardly seems fitting; it suggests something hollow and lacking. Nothing was further from the truth. These were two vivacious adults in their prime, ready for their next chapter.
The question was: how to harmonize their contrasting aethetic preferences? They shared classic transitional taste, but hers skewed classically feminine, and his classically masculine. The brief was to find balance and deliver spaces they both love.
Rather than trying to create an even blend between styles, the best solution here was to delineate focus in different rooms. All spaces utilize a timeless, classic style so that the house feels cohesive, but the tone seamlessly shifts from airy to sultry across spaces. The result was a rich blend of materials, textures, and mood that both of the couple love.
